2021 Minnesota Mock Meet

MockMeet2021GTeampic.JPEG

The club's first gymnastics meet of the year was December 11th at the University of Minnesota -Twin Cities. We departed from Madison early Saturday Morning and returned Sunday afternoon. Saturday consisted of competition, a team dinner, and team bonding!

This meet is not judged. Mock Meet is a great opportunity for new gymnasts to get used to performing routines and for experienced gymnasts to get back into the competitive mindset. Every attendee must compete in at least one event. If you have any questions about routine construction, talk to one of the officers!

The Minnesota Mock Meet 2021 went very well for our club! There was great energy throughout the entire competition. There were fourteen women competing, five of which also competed men's events. There were six men competing, one of which also competed a women's event. We had eight upperclassmen participate and twelve underclassmen, a great turnout!

Sarah Grady, Freshman, and Alex Mendenhall, Junior, both won a banana award, with Sarah Grady receiving the "No Shoulders" award for her crazy dislocates on rings and Mendenhall receiving the "Sassiest Beam Routine" for his stunning beam that he threw together especially for this competition.

A special shoutout to freshman Tessa Luzney for nearly competing a decathlon at her first meet with the club, competing eight of the ten events.

We're extremely happy with how the team performed, everyone gave it their all and had fun. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this awesome meet.

Thank you especially to Turner Valle and Cassie Barwick for their help and to the University of Minnesota Gymnastics Club for hosting.
